Tonight, I will be murdered.

See I love a good thriller read where I find it hard to put it down irrespective of how silly or stupid the characters might be.

The Housemaid's secret is book #2 in the Housemaid series by Freida McFadden and I must say that I enjoyed this read. Also the fact that you do not need to read book #1 to understand book #2; that was major for me however you would really get a grasp of Millie's personality if you read the book in order. There is book #3 - The Housemaid is watching - which comes out June 11, 2024. I am looking to reading that on my kindle.

However, I don't think Book #2 gave me that .... you know ...that hype. Millie's stupidity was more heightened which can be considered "allowed" to some extent since that was her MO. Genuinely, I did not know how the plot twist would unravel but it was obvious that Wendy had something up her sleeve.

Also, Millie was even more annoying because those monologues about her past appeared on almost every page. I remember noting this down on my kindle "This is too much. I am tired of this secret past you are unwilling to share". And to our dear Brock :(.

At a point though, I felt like the ultimate plot twist was involving Brock in the whole situationship thing going on with the Garricks or like he knew all this while. Something like that.

And how was Enzo following you around for THREE WHOLE MONTHS??? Dude, don't you have shit to do...?????

Alright, I'm gonna stop there.

Characters

I had no fav this time. All the women were annoying and the men could have gotten a bit more credit.

Verdict

This is a good read and like I wrote earlier, I did enjoy the book. Fast paced and easy to breeze through. Gotta give a captial E for effort because I know how effortful it takes to write a book
